What's New for 2024?
- All 4 Series and M4 models are now equipped with the latest BMW iDrive 8 operating system and the BMW Curved Display consisting of a 12.3-inch information display behind the steering wheel and a 14.9-inch control display housed in a single piece of curved glass.
- Fewer interior buttons in favor of touch controls on the new BMW Curved Display and voice controls with BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.
- 4 Series models receive a new toggle gear selector on the center console.
- M high-gloss Shadowline trim for the side window surrounds is now standard on M440i models.
- Aluminum Rhombicle in Anthracite replaces Aluminum Tetragon as the standard trim on M440i and M4 models.
- SensaTec upholstery for the dashboard is now an available option for M4 models.
Interior & Tech Changes
The interior of the 2024 BMW 4 Series and M4 models has been modernized with a new in-car display, reduced physical controls, and more contemporary trim.
The most notable change is the new BMW Curved Display with the latest iDrive 8 operating system. The BMW Curved Display is one single unit stretching from behind the steering wheel to the dashboard's center. It houses both a configurable 12.3" instrument cluster display and a 14.9" touchscreen infotainment/control display.
With this new unit, the physical climate control functions have been removed and instead added to the touchscreen display, resulting in a cleaner-looking dashboard. To accommodate the removal of the physical climate controls, the new display keeps the digital climate controls at the bottom of the screen for easy access.
With iDrive 8, an upgraded version of BMW's Intelligent Personal Assistant voice control is also included. This feature lets you control the climate and dozens of other functions with a simple voice command. BMW is moving towards a more smartphone-like experience we've all grown accustomed to, emphasizing the touchscreen and voice controls for vehicle functions.
If you prefer a more physical control, the iDrive rotary/touchpad controller is still on the center console and can be configured to perform different functions.
The vehicle display isn't the only interior change for 2024. The 430i and M440i models get a new, more minimal toggle gear selector on the center console. For M440i and M4 models, a darker Aluminum Rhombicle Anthracite trim is now standard, matching more closely to the ever-popular carbon fiber trim option. Lastly, an animal-free SensaTec upholstered dashboard is now an available no-cost option on M4 models.
Additional Changes
The only other change is that the M Shadowline (high-gloss black) window trim is now included as standard on the M440i models.
